Guesthouse and BathroomFather Ronel Chareleus used the first money St. Mary Cathedral sent to him in 1999 to build a four bedroom guest house. This building was made of concrete blocks and had concrete floors and a flat concrete roof (with a little covered porch area that allowed access from each room to a bathroom at the far end of the building). The flat roof – with the typical rebar sticking up out of it – will allow a second floor to be added at some future date if needed. The bathroom had three 55-gallon drums on the roof (that are filled with water collected from the roof of the church and stored in a cistern, or in times of little rain from the nearby Pendus River). The bathroom has a gravity fed shower, toilet and sink (for washing purposes only and not to drink or brush your teeth). The comfort of this building has been very much appreciated by all who have visited Pendus over the years.
