Motorcycle
The Montfort priests -- with Father Wilner Donecia's leadership -- are trying to have a more frequent presence in Pendus and its 6 surrounding chapels. Father Joseph Telcin has been helping Fr Wilner celebrate Mass at St Joseph or one of its 6 chapels on a weekly basis. Since it is about 10 miles from Gros Morne to Pendus (and further to Savanne Carre or Montbayard), the priests were in need of reliable, yet affordable, transportation.
A vehicle can traverse the distance from Gros Morne to Pendus in 50-60 minutes. However, a motorcycle can typically cover that distance in 30-40 minutes as it can often dodge some of the many rough spots in the road.
Therefore, Father Wilner asked us when he visited St Mary in October 2010 if we could provide a motorcycle for them to use.
Money was sent soon after Fr Wilner returned home and the priests had their motorcycle before the end of November!
There are also five creeks or rivers that one must cross - without the benefit of a bridge - en route from Gros Morne to Pendus so a ride on a motorcycle on this road would be exciting! It would be great to see the priests riding this motorcycle up and down this mountain side!
