St. Joseph Church Renovation

Late in 2002, St. Mary Cathedral collected and sent a full sea container (about the size of a semi-trailer) to Haiti. Among the items we had collected and sent were 120 gallons of paint (both white and blue that matched the colors of our newly renovated Cathedral) and a set of scaffolding (donated by J. R. Kelly Construction). This was also the same sea container that we sent all the pre-packaged desks and pews that we were going to teach the locals to assemble on our December 2002 visit to Pendus.

The interior of St. Joseph still had the wooden rafters and underside of the tin roof exposed (and some minor repairs were needed). The scaffolding would allow easier access to do such repairs as well as to put a ceiling in and paint it. The interior of the church looked totally different with the lowered ceiling, the new paint and now the new pews.
