Secretarial School

On our first visit to Pendus, we saw the construction underway for the new Jean XXIII High School in Gros Morne.  This is the closest high school to the Pendus area and is run by Montfortan priests.  Father Nestley Jean-Jacques is the principal.  There are over 300 students that attend this school.  The initial construction only had one floor, but was soon expanded to have a second floor added.  This allowed room for other projects such as a secretarial school -- which Sister Vivian Patenaude was instrumental in establishing.

We had gathering about 20 computers to send on a sea-container in 2002.  Bob Haan had stripped these down and made sure they all worked properly before we sent them to Haiti.  During our December 2002 visit to Pendus, Bob and Ellis Haan spent one afternoon and night in Gros Morne working on getting these computers set up, running and networked together (along with a couple printers).  Father Nestley had a double-sized room set up to house these computers.  He had individual desks made and ready to have separate stations for the secretarial students to work at in the classroom.
